PROCEDURES
BEFORE SCHOOL
STUDENTS:
· “Car Riding” students are
encouraged to not arrive at school until after 7:10am
· Students are to enter the
building through the front doors upon arrival to school and wait in the main
hall in an orderly fashion
· Students are not allowed to
go to other areas of the building or classrooms without a pass or permission
from a staff member
· Students are not to go to their lockers until it is time for homeroom
unless they get a pass from a staff member
· Students that eat breakfast
at school are to go directly to the café when they arrive at school. They are to eat in the front section of
the café only. Lunch time café
procedures apply to breakfast as well
· Students may sit in the back
portion of the café to read or do homework. Math teachers will be available for
help on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
· Students remain in main hall area until instructed otherwise by a staff
member. A
staff member will move all students at approx. 7:15 to the gym
· A staff member will direct
students to proceed to homeroom at approximately 7:45
· Students will go to their
lockers and then report to homeroom
TEACHERS:
· Report to duty area no later
than 7:30.
· In the Gym students are to
sit. They may use their net books
or cell phones and are expected to keep noise levels under control
· Café Supervisor: Once students finish eating move them
to the Gym
· The back of the Café will be
a “Quiet Space” for students from 7:15 until it is time to report to
homeroom. Students will not be
allowed to talk. They may read or
do homework.
REPORTING TO HOMEROOM/1st PERIOD
STUDENTS:
· At 7:45 students will be
directed to move to lockers and prepare for homeroom
· All students will go directly
to their lockers and put away coats/jackets and get supplies for their classes.
· Students will leave lockers
and report directly to Homeroom
· Students may not
go to any other room without permission (and a written pass) from their
teacher first
· In class students will sit
in assigned seats quietly waiting for announcements from the teacher, intercom,
or television
· The Pledge of Allegiance and
Moment of Silence will occur after the PHMS morning News program
· When the bell rings the
teacher will dismiss the students to 1st period
TEACHERS:
·
Supervise in halls before Homeroom
·
Greet students
·
Assign seats
·
Command respect so that students sit quietly awaiting announcements and
preparing for the day
·
Only the teacher takes attendance
·
Make sure late students have
a pink pass from the office
HALLWAYS
STUDENTS:
·
Students will walk on the right side of the halls in
an orderly fashion
·
Students will not share lockers
·
During classes, students must have a pass to be in
the halls
·
Students are not allowed to stand in the halls. Students are expected to simply travel
to their next class
TEACHERS:
· Teachers
dismiss students not the bell
· Teachers
are to lead students from the room and guide them to the next class and be
ready to begin ushering the students into their room for the next class
· Welcome
students into your classroom and continuously encourage students that are slow
· If you
don’t have a class, supervise the area around your classroom until the late
bell rings. Please check the bathroom if you are close
· If you
have a block do not take a break during passing
LUNCH/RECESS
STUDENTS:
·
Girls eat 1st during the 1st
and 3rd GP. Boys eat 1st
during the 2nd & 4th
·
If weather permits, students that have recess first
may report to the back playground area. In inclement weather, students will
report to the Gym
·
Students must stay in specified areas during recess
·
Rough play and tackle football are not allowed
·
Students who do not follow staff directives will sit
out or be sent to the office
·
Students must wear shoes and Polos during recess
·
Students will be directed to line up and enter the
building in an orderly fashion at the end of recess time
·
In café students will move to food lines in an
orderly fashion
·
Students will fill each table at the direction of a
staff member
·
After everyone at the table is finished eating students
will raise hands to get the attention of a staff member to be released from
their table
·
Students will push chairs under table and one
student will wipe the table
ALL STUDENT ACTIVITIES/DRILLS
Assemblies:
·
After informed over the intercom to report to a
designated area the teacher will instruct students to line up inside the
classroom. The teacher will then
escort students to the location.
Students will walk in an orderly single file line. Administration will instruct students
as to how to leave/exit.
Drills:
·
Teachers will always instruct students regarding
what to do. Students will travel
to and from designated area under the teacher’s supervision in an orderly
fashion. During drill students
will follow directions and always remain quiet waiting for further
instructions.
AFTER SCHOOL
STUDENTS:
·
When the bell rings at 2:40 the teachers will
dismiss their students
·
Students are to go to their lockers and then
promptly exit the building
·
If a student participates in an after school
activity, he/she must report directly to the activity
·
Only students involved in an after school activity
are allowed to stay in the building
·
Students are not allowed to go to the café and buy
snacks until all busses have left the lot
·
Students that ride late busses will report to the
auditorium and sit until directed to the front of the building by Mr. Carnahan
or a staff member
TEACHERS:
·
Teachers dismiss students not the bell
·
Escort students out of your classroom and supervise
hallway
·
Assist in making sure students exit the building

Procedures
STUDENTS:
·
Enter
the classroom in an orderly fashion prepared for class

before moving to your next class

TEACHERS:

Confirm
that they are prepared and direct them to assigned seats

Monitor
students in the hall and classroom from your door
·
Require
assigned seating and require students to raise their hands and wait to be
called upon before leaving their seats

Use
classroom FOCUS activities to set the tone of each day
·
Keep
track of your time so you can bring closure to your lesson and tidy up your
room with the assistance of your students
·
Stand
at your door and dismiss the students monitoring their departure, all other
students in the hall, and the arrival of your next class
·
Focus
on the many positives and overcome the negatives
