FREE ACCESS TO ROSETTA STONE

Rosetta Stone
Parents we have an awesome opportunity for your kids!!!  As many of you know, our 6th graders will have a 6 week class this year of Rosetta Stone taught by our Spanish teacher, Mrs. Rogers.  Mrs. Kracker, our FACS teacher, just found out that we can provide Rosetta Stone to our 7th and 8th graders as well.  What a great opportunity for your son or daughter to explore another language.  Mrs. Kracker is looking to start a 7th & 8th grade “Multicultural Club” where students can stay after school once or twice a month and share with their classmates what they are learning about their new language from Rosetta Stone.  It would be a very casual meeting for the kids and not mandatory in any way.  The course is provided via the internet so if you want your child to get involved please have him/her see Mrs. Kracker for a permission form by this Friday and she will in turn get them an access code.  This will give your son/daughter access to Rosetta Stone from anywhere and they can learn at their own pace.  When you sign your child up they gain access to the EVSC Rosetta Stone license.  EVSC renews the license in the Fall, so as long as EVSC continues to renew the license your child continues to have access to the program.
Please consider taking advantage of this opportunity, and best of all...
IT’S FREE!!!

Sweaters/Sweatshirts

We sent this home Friday, Sept. 9 with all of our students. It included a Sweatshirt order form:

As the weather started to change we decided to see what primarily our girls would wear and we were thinking those little button down cardigans would work.  That has now mushroomed to sweaters with zippers & pockets, and it’s become hard to determine what is and isn’t a jacket.  Also, we are seeing cover-ups that are light and have no buttons or zippers but hang and flow beyond their hips.  Being fashionable is not an intent of our new dress code.  I also do not want teachers spending time trying to make decisions on what are sweaters or a jackets and thus sending students out of class for me to make the determination.
The following is what the 2011 Dress Code states regarding sweaters/sweatshirts:
Crew Neck solid color sweaters/sweatshirts may be worn over the Polo shirt due to weather.

Beginning Monday that will be the expectation.  The sweaters and sweatshirts must have a crew neck or v-neck (I’m going to add v-neck to the dress code immediately).  The look we achieved through the “any solid color polo” policy has been very successful.  I have heard nothing but positive comments from many parents and staff members.  This array of sweaters with zippers, buttons, frills, etc. does not keep with the look we are promoting.  The kids look very neat with the solid color polos and solid crew neck or v-neck sweaters and sweatshirts will continue that look.

Mr. Goodman has contacted his t-shirt vendor and we are going to make available crew neck sweatshirts at our cost of $8.50 (2XL are $10.50) to both our boys and girls in adult sizes.  The solid color choices are:  navy, white, dark heather gray, sport gray, red, Carolina blue, purple, violet, chocolate, Irish green, orange, black, and light pink.  We will take orders all of next week (Sept.12-16), and hopefully have the sweatshirts the next week.  Payment must be made when the student turns in the order form.

*Students are allowed to wear jackets, coats, hoodies to school.  We require them to put them in their locker before homeroom and they are allowed to wear them during lunch/recess.

Thanks for your continued support and if you want to yell at me for incurring additional costs you can reach me at 435-8326.
