Let me clear up a couple of things and don’t hesitate to email me if you have further questions @ darrin.carnahan@evsc.k12.in.us
We are requiring shorts to come “at least” to the knee.
Cargo shorts are acceptable. They are about the only ones made for males anymore.
Please, no prints/stripes/camo/plaid/etc shorts. Black, blue, white, khaki-all shades of brown. Think solid color for everything but those goofy little socks that girls wear now that don’t match (no, I don’t get it and I have a 14 year old daughter).
Shoes that have a closed toe and heel. A strap around the heel is not closed. Nothing that looks like a house shoe/slipper. I know this is not an issue for boys; they will wear tennis shoes 99% of the time. But, girls realize those boys would wear athletic shorts 99% of the time and they can’t wear them to school any longer. So, Mr. Carnahan is being equally mean and horrible.
Parents, I love your kids and I would never ask of them anything I’d not ask of my own kids. Please support me on this because I think it may make a really good current school climate and even better one. If you are experiencing some serious financial stress please contact me. Mr. Goodman has been very conscious of this possibility and is looking for ways to help out families in need.
